A Tribute to Late Shri.Gopinath Munde

Union Minister for Rural Development Shri.Gopinath Munde demised in an accident in Dehlhi. He was one of the sincere well wishers of SSM.     He last visited SSM in 2010. Lately, some teachers of SSM had met him at Domri Gurukul and had his best wishes to our endeavor.

All the volunteers prayed for  his soul rest in peace in a gathering called on the occasion.

Commendable Academic Performance by the students

The outgoing X and XII board examination(2013-14) batches have proven their mettle and held SSM’s esteem high once again. Adding to the colour, this year too  both the units of SSM schools have shown competitive performances.
        The SCShivaji High School gave 88% of success rate at S.S.C. Board exam, where as the R.S.C.S.Sainiki Vidyalaya 100%. Over all 17 students secured places in the state merit list with above 93% of marks.
        Different branches of SSM from which the 12th out going batch collegiates have excelled among themselves. This year results registered all time high records in the history of SSM.
        The science stream at both the SCSHS and R.S.C.S.S.V. gave 100% result where as the Arts stream 97% and M.C.V.C.(Vocational Training ) stream 100 %.

        All the toppers in the series were felicitated by the Chairman under the auspices of all the Trustees, Heads of the institutions and the teachers.

Work shop on Kharif Crops

A workshop on Kharif crops was arranged jointly by Sub-Divisional Officer(Agri.) Degloor and K.V.K.Sagroli, here at Sagroli on 27th May.   K.V.K. Project Coordinator Shri. Dr. Suresh Kulkarni said in his introductory speech that the Soil testing is vital as it helps to make choice of crops. Shri. Pandit More, the Sub-Divisional Officer (Agri) focussed that the Government of Maharashtra supports on crops over dry areas. As there are some areas in Maharashtra which received poor rainfall, farmers need to follow a different strategy.  Recently Government launched a National Mission for Dry Land Cultivation.


There were other Agro experts who educated the participants in various subjects. Some farmers were felicitated at the function for their Record Production, with a cash reward of Rupees 10000 each. SSM Chairman Shri. Pramodji Deshmukh appealed farmers to take maximum benefit of KVK Sagroli. 

Birth Anniversary of R.S.C.Shahu Maharaj Celebrated in Reverence

All the units of SSM celebrated the Birth Anniversary of R.S.C.Shahu Maharaj on 26th June to mark great respect for his unique personality. He was known as Lok Raja. The king of the people. He was more likely an extraordinary Social Reformer  than a King.

        The Sainiki School students celebrated his jayanti with a difference, this year. Shahu Maharaj’s most favorite wrestling competition was organized on the occasion apart from Drawing, Essay writing competitions. 

The KVK @ the village Fair

Every year a Village fair was organized in the name of the Village Deity in Sagroli for 3 days.  All villagers offered their prayers to the Deity.  In a festival like atmosphere, variety of stalls with toys and utensils, food and sweet, clothes and cosmetics etc. were arranged on the occasion.
        KVK Sagroli too exhibited various Agro Tools and different types of seeds useful in Kharif and Rabbi Seasons for farmers. The Farm Science centre also provided solutions over a lot of problems and queries related to farmers, animals, tools, farming methods, pesticides etc. A Mobile soil and water testing van was the cenre of attraction in the fair.  Hundreds of farmers from the surroundings availed off the facility provided on the occasion.

UNITY IS STRENGTH - Farmers of Kedarvadgaon prove it again !


Kedarvadgaon a tiny hamlet in Naigaon cluster had every factor in adverse to support a single crop per year!  Whether its location at the foot of hill, or boulders filled land or lowest water table………..absolutely contributed to the tragedy of a lean farmer.
        SSM intervened with the support of NABARD and took up watershed Development Program through rejuvenating the futile ponds adjoining the village.  Initially, SSM took efforts to unite villagers into a mass group.  Rest of the mission was not that difficult then, the ponds we are cleared off the silt, stagnation and weeds and made ready to store every drop of rain to the capacity.
        Caring Friends organization, Mumbai too joined hands in this social work.  Every marginal farmer was lent Rs.10000/- free of interest.  The KVK Sagroli guided the development program.
        All this happened within the span of 2 months.  Today, a team of 100 farmers have pulled up their socks and awaiting the monsoon blessing to turn their 500 acres of barren land to yield loads of grains.

        An estimated capacity of 45.28 TMC water will be stored in the pond subject to adequate rainfall this year and supports a second crop for harvesting too.

Apparatus to Record Meteorological Changes Installed at SSM

The Natural resources were available in abundance in olden times and human interference was limited. Therefore the ecological balance was well maintained. The cycle of the seasons could be predicted.
Over the period of time, due to over exploitation of Natural Resources, the conditions turned hostile and unpredictable effecting the farmers practicing dry crops or rain fed farming. To help the situation, the Government of India has provided Meteorological Instruments to all the KVKs functioning in the country.

        One such apparatus is installed at SSM also. Now a range of weather Conditions can be tracked and recorded minute to minute. Apart from the primary information, this set up has been networked throughout  the nation to exchange extreme Meteorological conditions like Calamities, Drought conditions etc between concerned agencies so as to take timely precautions.

Crop Science Students Develop Bio Fertilizer

The Crop science students of SCShivaji Jr College developed Bio Fertilizer in the field adjoining the campus using crop residue and garbage. It is being purely Organic in nature, The SSM uses it to grow vegetables, that are in turn supplied to hostels. This project has lead to a revolution in providing farm fresh, organic, nutritious vegetables to the hostellers in the campus. This novel activity of the Crop Science students was visited by the local farmers. The KVK Sagroli provided professional guidance and support for the effective production

Farmers Feel Relieved With Triple Benefit Agro Tool

Cotton harvest leaves several residues in the fields such as stalks, stems, straws and sticks. It had been time consuming and expensive task for the farmers to uproot and clear the field post harvest.
Shaktiman Agro Pvt ltd recently developed a tool that can be attached to a tractor and worked. This mobile Threader  not only uproots the Strong cotton stems but also chops those into fine pieces and broadcasts in the field on its own. Thus, once considered a waste residue can now be utilized optimum as Organic Fertilizer for soil amendment. It also improves Micro Organism's activity. The innovative Agro tool saves time, money and labor of the farmer.

A demonstration was arranged by the KVK sagroli on 1st of May, for the benefit of the Farming community in the vicinity.

Sujaya English Active Learning Programme, A Boon To Rural Children



Sujaya Foundation gives underprivileged and differently able children and youth an opportunity  and a platform to launch them into dignified and bright future they deserve.
They  bridge the digital and linguistic divide through Education. Their volunteers  teach underprivileged school-going children Mathematics, Science, English and Computers; as also English and Computers to underprivileged youth, giving them a much needed equal opportunity boost.
They also run an Experiential Learning Programme where students  experience a work-like environment and then try and aspire  for employment in the BPO industry.

Sujaya Foundation has developed Sujaya English Active Learning (SEAL) – A digital learning platform that includes audio files, self learning and monitored learning which integrates classroom learning and actual learning.
Sanskriti Samvardhan Mandal got in touch with Sujaya Foundation, Mumbai, through the NASSCOM foundation. The SEAL programme was demonstrated at the school by the Sujayas. On finding it highly effective in facilitating English Language Learning to the young children from the rural background, the SSM started implementing the project from the year 2013-14. Indeed,  it proved  highly effective and practicable. The English teachers at the Shivaji High School expressed their satisfaction and expressed,  their efforts were channelized  through  the increased curiosity among their students.
A conference for all SEAL partners was held on April 28 and 29 2014 in Deutsche bank, Goregaon. The entire event was conceptualized by Sujaya Foundation and sponsored and hosted by DB. The 2 days included sessions on teaching, special education etc for the teachers and fun workshops for the students. Sujaya foundation along with its corporate partner, Deutsche Bank, organized the first interactive English Speaking competition, The SEAL Premiere League (SPL). Eight teams from Sangli, Nanded and Mumbai participated in the competition. The team from Chembur secured the first place followed by the team from Nanded in second place. Students were awarded by DB officials and film actor Varun Dhawan.

The entire program was a huge success and all the participants had a good time.

Vijay Josh Retired From Service

SSM’s trusted volunteer, devoted senior clerk at Shivaji High School was bid a warm fare well on the occasion of his retirement from service, on 30th June 2014.
        He has rendered a complete 34 years of service at various branches of SSM.  Vijay Joshi expressed his contentment and heartfelt indebtedness towards Babasaheb Deshmukh and SSM

Sagroli’s Fragrance Spreads to Western Maharashtra

Rajiv Sagrolikar received exclusive commendation Award for his Service to the Society, from the women Development education and public welfare foundation, Kolhapur on 22nd of June.
        A post graduate in cooperative establishment, Rajiv was born and brought up at Sagroli.  A tiny tot of SSM, who continued his higher education outside Nanded, was a promising and beloved student of SSM’s teachers till his 12th.
        Rajiv continued his career in cooperative sector in dairy domain. Presently as the Executive Director, he represents the Koyna Co-operative Milk Development and Processing Society Ltd. Karad, Dist. Satara, in western Maharashtra.
        He was recognized for his excellent contribution in empowering the farmers through the development of Co-operative societies for the milk trade. His efforts yielded remarkable financial stability among the marginal farmers.

        He owes all his achievements to SSM for the way he was educated and prepared at the schools.

Enrollment to Sunrise Sports Project concluded for the year 2014-15

The unique sports project conceived and effectively carried forward by SSM, The Sagroli Sunrise has already set itself an identity in the world of Athletic competitions at National level.
        Being implemented since the year 20?? the ideology of S.S.M. believes that the Innate talent of rural youth proves miracles if chanalized.
A selection camp for 4 days was organized in the month of June to pick up highly potential youth for the project. More than 100 aspirants participated from Nanded and surrounding 5 districts.
Through a series of tough competitions, a dynamic 25 students were selected finally.
        These 25 young athletes will undergo rigorous training under the guidance of resident and guest coaches to participate the athletic competitions at National and International events. SSM bears all the financial aspects required for their Education, Training, Accommodation and Dietary needs

Vijayanand Surshetwar developed a Treasure of Teaching-learning material

Complimenting the changing scenario of the education system and methodology of teaching, Vijayanand a devoted teacher from the primary section of SSM schools has prepared loads of learning material for the children studying III and IV standard.  The teaching aids fully comply with the latest Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation ( CCE) method . The vast work covered all the subjects of both the classes for the entire syllabus.  An exhibition was arranged at the Taluka Head quarters for the benefit of all the primary teachers working in Biloli Tahsil.
At the outset of the implementation of Right To Education act, these
Attractive materials  are believed to evoke curiosity among the children to attend school.

        All the work done under SUPW  from waste or low cost material was appreciated all over  by the Officers of the Department.

NINE STUDENTS HIT SUCCESS AT National Merit cum Means Scholarship(2014)

The NMMS scholarship  examination conducted by the Maharashtra State examination council, Pune for the students of economically weaker sections  this year registered a high performance rate by the students of SSM. All 53 students of 8th standard who appeared for the NMMS examination got through the written test, where as 9 students bagged the National scholarship through which they receive an amount of Rs.6000/- per  annum, from the Govt. of India till they complete their 12th class.


Software for Admission Process Developed by The Computer Department

SSM's Comp. Dept. teachers created a Unique software for the admission process for this year. It is found much useful as it saves paper and time. It was a welcome gesture of the Dept. and was appreciated all over. Earlier accounts were maintained manually, leaving scope for mistakes. Now data can be easily collected from all the units and consolidated. This team work was contributed by Suprabhand Bhavsar, Sheetal Joshi, Sachin Yermalkar and Shivkumar Joshi.

Drip Irrigation Training Programe

Tube wells and Conventional wells tend to go dry in the month of May every summer. Farmers plan harvesting pre monsoon cotton crops.. Such times it is always better to go for drip irrigation either for pre seasonal or kharif cotton crops.
        It is usually observed that farmers go for loose irrigation method ( run way method) to water cotton crops. But such methods are time consuming and cause severe water loss. In addition, weeds create a menace.

        In this connection, KVK Sagroli has conducted a one day training program for farmers on 19th May. Farmers were advised to adopt method of drip irrigation for cotton crops adoption of which saves water as well as yields better production.

Exclusive Book Exhibition Organized

Here at Sagroli on the occasion of Wata(Savitri)Pournima, A Book Exihibition was arranged on 12th June by SSM’s public Library.  This has been a tradition set for the past 58 years. Now a days, people are found apathetic towards reading hobby. It is felt that such exhibitions reorient the habit of book reading.

        To promote reading habits, school children went door to door to spread awareness among the village folk about benefits of reading habits.

In-door Games competitions

Summer vacation is the time of joy everywhere. SSM organizes different activities like personality development, Music, Dance, Painting etc for the Rural children.This year, public Library of SSM arranged in-door games competitions. Children enjoyed the event a lot.

One Day Picnic organised by the Village Library

Every Year one day trip is arranged by Village Public Library (Run by SSM) for school children.  This year children had an opportunity to visit an old mosque at Biloli.  This mosque is an exquisite example of Mughal Architecture.  It was built by Sarfaraj Nawaz Khan, the then Army Chief of Mughal Dynasty.

        What attracts the most abt the Mosque are the tiny bells carved  in stone around high minarets. Students were amazed to see such beautiful carving of flowers and leaves on arches.  Later that day, they had their lunch at Sai Baba Temple.  On their way back, they visited a temple of Maruti at Laghul.

Teachers performance Test ( TPT)

Inspiring to up-date their subject knowledge, every year SSM conducts performance test for teachers. Such examinations build up the self confidence and a healthy competition among teachers.This year too  it was held in March 2014. SSM’s Chairman Shri. Pramod Deshmukh felicitated all the meritorious teachers.

Books Distribution

Free Text books were distributed to students on the first day of the school, under a scheme sponsored by Government of Maharashtra.  Here at Sainiki Vidyalaya, Shivaji High School and Shivaji Jr.Basic school students were warmly received with roses on the first day. Parents were also present on the occasion.

School Admissions For the year 2014-15 completed :-

        Admission process for the academic year 2014-15 has been completed at all the Units of SSM.   A batch of 45 pupils have been given admission for V class at Sainiki Vidalaya. New methods of approach like Smart Classes, An Ideal Reading Hall and Examination Hall have been developed with a difference.  Shivaji High School and Shivaji Junior Basic school also registered good response from the parents as usual.

Maharashtra Day Observed


1st May was observed as the Maharashtra Day in the institution with a great Zeal. The day is also  observed as the Labors day throughout the country. Hence on the occasion of world labors day, faculties , Wardens, Rectors and other staff working in different units of the institution were felicitated.
        It has been a tradition of the institution to recognize the efforts of its employees contributing remarkably in their respective field and bring laurels to the organisation. An incentive was given to all of them as a token of recognition for their remarkable contribution.
        The programme concluded in by a feast with traditionally symbolic Maharashtrian ‘ Zunka Bhakar.’

I.B.T.(V1) Training at Belgaon

A pre vocational  training was organized during 26th to 29th May at Aloor, Dist. Belgaon by 'Lend a Hand, ’ a Pune based institute.
        The I.B.T. V1 has been recognized  as the Scho

ol subject initiated at S.C.S. High School during 2012-13.The training was organized for the 10th class teachers.

        Head Master Mr. Vitthal Jathore, Co-ordinator Mr. Nagnath Machapure and instructors Mr. Maroti Sonkamble, Gajanan Jadhav and Sachin Muddapawar and Mrs. Saraswati Gore participated in the training.
